2012 Economic Review

Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Honourable Sir K Dwight Venner presented a review of the performance of the economy of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU) in 2012 and the way forward for the ECCU to better cope with the challenges it now faces on Tuesday 29 January 2013 at 8:00 p.m. on radio and television stations throughout the ECCU. Please click here to see the list of stations on which the presentation was aired.

The 2012 ECCU Economic Review Presentation focused on the current realities under which the ECCU exists; the vision for the future of the economies of the ECCU member countries; what has been done to help the region meet the challenges of the on-going global economic and financial crisis and address the ECCU's medium term restructuring programme; and what needs to be done to help guarantee hope for this and future generations.

Immediately following the presentation, a cross-section of residents from the eight ECCU member countries, linked through the use of video-conferencing technology, engaged the Governor in discussions on the issues which arose from the presentation.

During the coming weeks, a series of post presentation discussion programmes will be hosted on radio and television stations in the ECCU member countries to give members of the wider public the opportunity to voice their views on the issues that would have emerged from the presentation as well as matters pertaining to their well-being and the overall economic development of the ECCU.

Please return to this page for the schedule of these programmes.
