Terms and Conditions for Sale of Coins

Welcome to the coin set page on the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank website (the “Website”) terms and conditions of use (the “Terms”).  These Terms apply to your use or access of this Website and set out the conditions upon which the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (“ECCB”, “Central Bank”, “us”, “we”, “our) agree to sell commemorative coins and coin sets (“Coins”) to you. 

These Terms also apply to the purchase of Coins from us using any method of sale including telephone and in person sales. 

By using the Website, you agree to be bound by the Terms. If you do not agree to be bound by the Terms, then you should not use the Website or purchase the Coins. The following definitions are used throughout the Terms, and you should familiarize yourself with them: 

Business Customer”  means  a  Customer  who  purchases  Coins  in  the  course  of his/her business or trade. 

Consumer” means a natural person who purchases Coins for purposes which are outside the person’s trade, business, craft or profession. 

Contract” means the contract between us and you for the sale and purchase of the Coins in accordance with the Terms. 

Customer” means the person or firm who purchases the Coins from us, either as a Consumer or as a Business Customer. 

Force Majeure Event” means an event or circumstance beyond our reasonable control.

If we need to contact you, we will do so by using the contact details that you provided to us when you placed your order.


  1. Order process 

You may place an order for the Coins online, by telephone, by post or in person. 

Online orders: the order form is available on this website.  Select the name of coin and indicate quantity, submit order via email to sec_cmd@eccb-centralbank.org. The ECCB will reply once order is confirmed and payment is received.

Options available:

(a) Online purchase with shipping to address as indicated in order and,

(b) Online purchase with collection at ECCB, Bird Rock, St Kitts.


Telephone orders: When you make an order by telephone, your order is accepted verbally, at which point a contract will come into existence between you and us. Customers who place an order by telephone will be charged at your local rate for the call. 

Orders made by post: We are unable to automatically confirm receipt of orders by post. Confirmation of orders made by post is only provided on request. 

In person: Coins can also be purchased in person at our office in Bird Rock, Basseterre, St. Kitts. 

We reserve the right to refuse to sell Coins that you have ordered without giving any reason and without any liability to you. If we are unable to accept your order for any reason, we will inform you of this and we will not charge you for the Coins. 

We are under no obligation to fulfill any order until we have received payment.


  1. The Coins 

The images of the Coins on the Website are for illustrative purposes only. Although we have made every effort to display the colours of the Coins accurately, we cannot guarantee that they are displayed accurately on your screen. Accordingly, Coins, when delivered to you, may vary slightly from how they appear on the Website. We take no responsibility for any such variation. 

The packaging of the Coins may vary from that shown on the Website.


  1. Price

The prices of the Coins as advertised on the Website are subject to change from time to time. 

While we take all reasonable care to ensure that the price of the Coins as advertised is correct, it is possible that, despite our best efforts, some Coins may be advertised at an incorrect price and/or the delivery charges advertised may be incorrect. Where the Coins' correct price/delivery charges at your order date is less than our stated price/delivery charges at your order date, we will charge the lower amount. If the Coins' correct price/delivery charges at your order date is higher than the stated price/delivery charges at your order date, we will contact you to confirm whether you want to proceed with the order. 

For orders made by telephone, the total price of the Coins or telephone order (which includes postage) will be confirmed verbally to you before you place your order. 

For orders made by post, the price of the Coins telephone order (which includes postage) will be set on the Website. There will be a minimum 2 week clearing period for all bank drafts, before the order can be dispatched. For security reasons, do not send cash or credit/debit card details through the post. 


  1. Availability, Payment and Delivery 

The availability of the Coins as advertised on the Website is subject to change from time to time. 

Where you have ordered more than one set of Coins you may request for part of your order to be dispatched before the whole order is ready for dispatch. You will be responsible for any additional delivery costs incurred as a result of your request for part delivery of orders.


If you are contracting as a Consumer, we will endeavour to deliver the Coins within

30 days after the date on which the Contract is concluded. If delivery is delayed for more than 30 days, you have the right to contact us to request that the Coins be delivered within an additional period of time. If the Coins are not delivered within that additional period, you have the right to terminate the Contract and refuse to accept the Coins. If you decide that you do not want to accept the Coins, we will refund any money paid by you, including delivery costs, without undue delay. However, we will not be responsible for any other losses, costs, damages or charges that you may suffer if we delay in delivering or do not deliver the Coins to you. If you fail to return the Coins to us not later than 30 days after the 14 days cooling off period has expired, then you will be deemed to have accepted the Coins and you will be charged for the price you paid at the time of the order. This does not affect your statutory rights.

If you are contracting as a Business Customer, then we will endeavour to make the Coins available for collection as soon as is reasonably possible. We cannot arrange delivery of Business Customer orders.



(i)       Coins purchased in person can be paid for by cash

(ii)      Orders by post to be paid for by bank draft. Please make allowance for 14 days for clearance.

(iii)     Online orders will be paid for by credit card (card details will not be held on file) or by wire transfer to our account at the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, USA. Payment instructions via wire transfer will be issued after order confirmation.



(i)      Coins purchased in person will be available for collection on the same day.

(ii)     Coins purchased via post or online will be dispatched via FedEx or DHL within 2 to 3 business days after payment confirmation is received.


  1. Risk and title

If you are a Consumer, Coins ordered by you will be at your risk from the time of delivery. Ownership of the Coins will only pass to you when we receive full payment of all sums due in respect of your order, including postage.

If you are a Business Customer, Coins ordered by you will be at your risk and will be owned by you when we receive full payment of all sums due in respect of your order.


  1. Cooling off period: your right to cancel 

If you are contracting as a Consumer for orders made by telephone or by post, you have  a right  to cancel the contract and return the Coins to us within 14 days of receipt without giving a reason. This right does not apply to Business Customers. 

The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire physical possession of the Coins. 

To exercise your right to cancel, you must contact us using one of the means above and provide us with an unequivocal statement of your intention to cancel the Contract.   

If you decide to cancel the Contract, we will refund payments received from you, including postage without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel this Contract. However, we reserve the right to withhold the refund until we have received the Coins back but no monies will be refunded for Coins which are returned in a damaged condition. 

Where possible we will refund you using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction however funds from orders placed by bank draft will be refunded via wire transfer to your bank account; you will bear the direct cost of returning the Coins to us.


  1. General refund and returns policy 

You have the right to a refund or replacement if the Coins

(i)      do not match, in all material terms, their description or

(ii)     are not of merchantable quality, unless the defects were specifically drawn to your attention before the Contract was made, or you examined the Coins before the Contract was made


You  do  not  have  a  right  to  a  refund  or  replacement if

(ii)    you have  broken or damaged the Coins or

(ii)    you have changed your mind after receipt of the Coins and it is more than 14 days since you received the Coins


If the capsule containing the proof Coin has been opened, the Coin cannot be returned to us and money will not be refunded. 

If you have a right to a refund or replacement, we will:

(ii)    Refund to you all payments received from you, including the costs of postage without undue delay or

(ii)    (ii) Arrange for a replacement to be sent to you subject to availability. Please contact us to request a refund or a replacement. This clause 8 and any statements in the Terms do not affect your statutory rights.


  1. Liability and disclaimers 

All coins sold and product descriptions, information and materials posted on this Website or in person or telephone are provided “as is” and without warranties express, implied or otherwise. 

We warrant to you that Coins purchased from us are of satisfactory quality and reasonably fit for all of the purposes for which they are commonly supplied. To the fullest extent permissible by law, but without excluding anything that may not lawfully be excluded in the case of Consumers, we disclaim all other warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, in relation to the Coins. 

Our liability in connection with any Coins purchased from us is strictly limited to the purchase price of that Coin or Coins. This does not affect your statutory rights or your cancellation rights.


  1. Complaints 

If you have a complaint, please contact us directly and we will do our best to resolve your complaint.


  1. General

We have the right to revise and amend these Terms from time to time by posting revised Terms on the Website. 

We shall not be liable for any failure to perform any of our obligations under these Terms which is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control including, but not limited to, any Force Majeure Event.

Our failure to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision unless acknowledged and agreed to by us in writing. 

These Terms and any matter connected with any order placed online, by telephone or in person shall be construed in accordance with the laws of St Kitts and Nevis and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the St Kitts and Nevis Courts in respect of same.

Documentation or images on this site may not be amended, altered or modified in any way. Documentation on this site may not be reproduced without the consent of the Central Bank and the owner/provider of the documentation concerned.
